CIM08 will take place in Thessaloniki, Greece. Thessaloniki is the metropolitan centre of Northern Greece with a history of 2,300 years that has left its marks on the city, reflected on the numerous monuments that are dispersed in the historic centre of the city. Thessaloniki's airport is approximately 11 kilometers away from the city centre. Transportation to/from the airport is provided by bus or taxi. A typical taxi fare from the airport to the hotel is approximately EUR 10.
|The Department of Music Studies at the Aristotle University of Thessaloniki is a well-established musicological academic institution in Greece. The curriculum includes topics on historic musicology, music theory/analysis, ethnomusicology, music education, music acoustics and technology, music cognition, and composition. The department, not only has a strong profile in traditional musical and musicological studies but, moreover, it actively supports research in innovative interdisciplinary music-related fields. The new building provides an excellent environment for teaching, research and other activities.|
How to get there
By Coach A coach will take delegates from the three main conference hotels (see accommodation) to the conference venue in the morning and will return to the hotels in the afternoon. All delegates can use the conference coaches, even if they have arranged to stay at a different place.
By car Take the motorway to Chalkidiki, turn right at the exit Finikas/Thermi, cross under the bridge, turn right at the second traffic lights after the bridge and, finally, turn left at the second traffic lights (see map below).
By Taxi Ask for the Department of Music Studies at the University Campus near Thermi. Travel duration from city centre: approx. 20 minutes. Cost: approx. 10 Euros. Travel duration from airport: approx. 15 minutes. Cost: approx. 10 Euros (includes extra airport charges).
